Part 1: Reading Assignment

This reading assignment is from the book “Our Ecological Footprint”, by Mathis Wackernagel & William Rees, first published in 1996. Copy of reading material is available in PDF format on the Arch 125 course web page. The sections to be read for this assignment are Preface and pages 1-60.
Additional Information:

  • The information in this book is based on early 1990’s data and has since then been updated.
  • The latest estimate of the average Canadian Ecological Footprint is calculated to be 8.8 global hectares per person.
  • The latest estimate of the average World Ecological Footprint is calculated to be 2.3 global hectares per person.
  • The latest estimate of the World Carrying Capacity is calculated to be 1.9 global hectares per person.

The Submission

Take the 3 screencaps and insert them into a single PDF document that includes your name and ID number. One screencap per page. Submit the PDF to LEARN. If you can manage to complete this and properly follow the instructions you should get full marks.

Rubric:

5 marks each for the completion of the three footprint analysis, 5 marks for doing it completely and correctly.
